Wood Barracks of Luovi

In 1998, the Organisation for Respiratory Health in Finland bought a wooden barracks area in Oulu from the Finnish Defence Forces. The area was built in the 1880s according to a design by architect August Boman, and it has been classified as a site of national significance and cultural-historical value.

The old staff barracks were restored and renovated in collaboration with the National Board of Antiquities and the Museum of Northern Ostrobothnia to create administrative, teaching and meeting facilities for Luovi Vocational College. In addition, the traditional Officers’ Club was renovated for use as a restaurant.
