The M and Y wings of Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital integrate the inpatient wards in the health centre into the central hospital.

The new wings combine specialist medical care and basic health care processes, which had previously been separate. The facilities include inpatient wards, an outpatient clinic and a laboratory, including sample-taking areas.

The section of the building encompassing newly built and renovated constructions forms an effective functional entity, with a high-ceilinged lobby at its heart. Balconies, natural light and wider corridors increase comfort for patients and personnel alike. The use of space supports rehabilitation and recuperation.
